Gollies from World of Bears

The golly was first bought to life in 1895 by illustrator Florence Upton, who was creating images for a book that was devised between her and her mother. He was a lovable, helpful character, who assisted her two Dutch dolls on their many adventures. Due to the books popularity and those that followed after, mothers and grandmothers began making the black ragdolls for their loved ones. Thanks to Robertson's marmalades and jams then taking the golly as their logo image, his popularity grew turning him into an iconic figure. One that he still is today.
