With its purchase of long-time supplier Schulte last year, Steiff became one of the only plush toy manufacturers in the world with its very own fabric mill. This means Steiff’s level of control over the products it manufactures is greater than ever – from design to fabric-making to sewing to finishing. At the Steiff-Schulte mill in Duisburg, Germany, threads of alpaca, mohair, silk and other fine quality materials are woven almost magically into some of the most luxurious plush fabrics imaginable. Meter after meter of these fabulous textiles pass through the production process each day. These fabrics are the raw materials for Steiff’s most magnificent creations.
