What's in a name? You'll be surprised. The Corgi Brand was manufactured in Swansea, Wales and it was decided to honour this, by using Corgi the breed name of the popular Welsh dog, easy to remember using two syllables and lastly, the breeds association with the Royal family.
The popular boys toys would be played with, box discarded and the vehicle would be discovered in scratches and dings. So, from the British made saloon cars of the time, through to character favourites such as Noddy, Batman and James Bond to name a few, to vintage horse-drawn carriages and fire engines, through to memorabilia and to current day.
Now no longer pushed to one side by the children who use to play with them, they have in turn, become quite collectable amongst the adults who remember them.
