Fire Engines

Fire Engines were original known as 'hand tubs' with a 'bucket brigade' forming a line, passing the full buckets towards the fire and the empty ones away for refilling. They developed into horse draw carts before becoming an engine driven road vehicle in 1904.

Since then the 'rigs', 'trucks' or 'fire engines' have changed on the way too, with different areas, services and countries opting for alternate colouring. Primarily, most are red, but some are also white, yellow or green vehicles, ensuring that they are easily detected in their specific area.
