When Artist John Blackburn was asked if he could make a traditional teddy bear for a friends grandmother, he didn’t disappoint and, as they say, the rest is history, with John and his Mum working from home until they became established.
In 2016 John was deservedly awarded an MBE for services to manufacturing and export Although no longer involved in the day to day running of Canterbury Bears, John’s daughter Kerstin and wife Maude are still bringing the magic into our hearts and our homes.
